We believe that good energy management is critical for the economic, social and environmental well being of our residents and businesses. Which is why we’ve now created this brand new role aimed at improving our own energy efficiency and reducing our energy costs.
We’re looking to you to develop and implement an effective energy management strategy across a highly varied property portfolio comprising 800 properties and numerous open spaces. The scope to gain valuable experience is huge, as you advise Members and Senior Officers on national and international energy policies affecting our assets. There’s also the challenge of actively seeking out new sources of funding from around the world and identifying the kind of viable alternative energy solutions – wind, solar, heat pumps – that will enable us to reduce costs by increasing efficiency. And in turn, the savings you make will help fund this post.
It’s essential that you have the drive and self-motivation to deliver results. Political sensitivity is a must too, combined with proven ability to challenge and enthuse others to change the way they work. Perhaps most important of all, you should have an Engineering degree with a mechanical or building services focus (or equivalent) and be a Member of the Institute of Energy.
