We are looking for a self-motivated and dedicated person, with good leadership skills and extensive highway maintenance experience, to undertake the role of Area Maintenance Manager in the East of the County.
You will act as first point of contact for our Surrey Highways Partnership
(SHiP) Constructor, with an annual turnover of £18-22m, to achieve the optimum management, monitoring and delivery of reactive, proactive, and cyclic maintenance of Surrey’s highway network.
Reporting to the East Area Programme and Maintenance Manager, you will liaise closely with Engineers and technical support staff within the Operations team and Local Highway Managers and their teams, along with staff from our constructor partners. You will have direct responsibility for the management and delivery of the annual Area Maintenance Plan and budget for the East of Surrey. In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring and auditing the constructor’s performance, financial monitoring and overseeing the ordering of works under contract.
The role is varied and demanding, and you will need to demonstrate flexibility and good management skills, with extensive knowledge and experience of Civil Engineering, highway construction, materials and methods. You should be a member of a recognised relevant Engineering body.
Adaptability and flexibility to succeed are essential qualities needed in this post to deliver customer-focused and cost effective revenue and capital maintenance works in an environment where there are many conflicting pressures and obstacles.
We are offering a generous annual leave entitlement and flexible working benefits.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Chris Sharpe, Area Programme and Maintenance Manager, on 01372 832 521.
