Contracts Director / Business Development Director (European)

Ixion Holdings Ltd, which in an independent not-for-profit company, with its parent organisation Anglia Ruskin University (who are part funding the role), wishes to make a significant expansion into the mainland European tender bidding markets.

Ixion operates a number of businesses and is also a joint shareholder of EEIB Ltd, providing Business Link services in the East of England. The Ixion group has now grown to provide business support and people development services throughout the UK and is currently expanding operations into mainland Europe.

Position: European Contracts Director (The role sits on the Ixion Management Board)

ROLE:
The Ixion Group plans to make a significant expansion into the European tender bidding markets in the areas of; Research, Health, Skills, Training, SME support etc. This means that the Ixion Group is now looking to recruit a leading European Contracts Director / Business Development Director to set up a new division and will sit on the Ixion Management Board. Ixion has high ambitions and wants a self starter prepared to take on the opportunity and drive the new division forward at pace and to be P&L accountable for its performance and operational delivery.

An essential part of the role will be to have responsibility for all aspects of the funding cycle. In essence, four distinct functions:-
a) Business development and securing divisional profitability
b) Concept development & proposal writing
c) Contract negotiation
d) Operational delivery

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Knowledge and experience of the European funding market place and funding arena. Significant practical experience in relevant business areas and particularly with respect to the European Framework Programme 7 initiatives.
b) Knowledge of the leading research and technology organisations (RTOs) across Europe and the ability to engage with them to secure grant funded research opportunities.
c) Extensive strategic European bid and tender writing and winning experience, along with writing the tactical business models for delivery that can win £ multi-million bids and that drives profitable outcomes for the organisation.
d) Degree education, preferably in a business background and proven experience in a senior business tender bidding role.
e) Possess a strong track record of winning and managing the delivery of complex contracts, preferably public sector contracts, encompassing tendering processes and business model writing.
f) Must be mobile for international travel as required.
g) Live the Company Values & able to help drive towards its Vision.
