We need someone to manage our small, committed and innovative team on a day to day basis and assist with the efficient management of the registration of electors and the organisation of elections. You will be responsible for the planning and oversight of the various activities undertaken by the team – elections, annual audit, rolling registration, postal votes and annual declarations processes, for example – but will also be expected to focus on improving service delivery by introducing customer-focused changes and developing good practice. You will also take a lead in developing and implementing a continuous quality assurance programme as well as give advice on electoral registration and election matters generally. You will also assist in the organisation of all elections, periodic boundary reviews, and proactively suggest new ways of improving registration and turnout.
You will:
·Have a thorough knowledge and practical experience of the registration, annual audit and annual declarations processes, including current electoral legislative framework
·Evidence of involvement in the planning and organisation of all aspects of elections, including District (Local), Parish, Parliamentary and European Parliamentary elections
·Have a thorough working knowledge of a Windows-based electoral registration & elections management package
·Have experience of managing professional and administrative staff
·Be able to organise & prioritise a large work-load, with changing & competing deadlines and retain high levels of accuracy
We can offer season ticket loans, a green travel plan, family-friendly working policies, a commitment to training & development and an excellent final salary pension scheme.
For an informal discussion about this post please contact Jane Ringham, Head of Members Services and Elections on 332864.
