Ensuring that the authority can respond effectively and efficiently to civil emergencies affecting the district and to potential disruptions to council services is the main focus for this newly created position. Policies and procedures are already in place, but they will benefit from a fresh pair of eyes to ensure that they remain effective. The postholder will also develop existing, and introduce new, partnerships to support emergency planning.
Other duties include:
- Co-ordinating business continuity across the
authority; and
- Ensuring that regular training takes place to
test the effectiveness of emergency planning and
business continuity.
The post forms part of the newly created Policy Team situated with Democratic Services. There is flexibility on how the 18½ hours are worked each week.
