Estates and Facilities Manager

We have recently restructured our Estates and Facilities team and are now looking for individuals to play a vital role in the maintenance and improvement of our built assets. A team-focused and professional approach is needed for these demanding roles with the senior position reporting to our Head of Street Scene (Environmental Services?). You will take responsibility for a variety of tasks including the provision of expert advice to the council on estates management and the maintenance of our buildings, including offices, leisure centres, depots, car parks and public toilets, and integrating the function within the wider council structure.

A key part of your role will be to co-ordinate, lead and inspire the Estates and Facilities team, which also includes the Engineering and Landscape Architects functions. Drawing on at least five years’ management or supervisory experience, you will ensure that the team is equipped with the skills needed to meet the changing needs of the building industry and the local community. A management qualification would be advantageous.

To be considered, you will need to combine your relevant professional qualification with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience in either estates management or
building maintenance and delivery of complex construction related projects. In addition to being up to date with current Government legislation, you must also have a practical knowledge of performance management in a technical environment. Not least, it is very
important that you are IT literate, with a sound familiarity with the MS Office suite and CAD packages.
