This post offers an interesting and challenging opportunity to work across the parks and green space services. This unique and special role works with a range of existing community and charitable sector organisations for the maintenance and development of parks. You would ensure that our awareness of the needs of the community is up to date, as is our awareness of our performance compared to other providers of green space services. Working closely with our press office and through various community forums, you would ensure that the public knows what we are doing to meet their needs and improve our performance. You would support our Green Flag and London in Bloom entries and take a lead role in running the Council’s own ‘In-Bloom’ competition.
The Council is committed to improving the quality of its green assets and the services that these support. As the Partnerships & Special Projects Officer you would have a key role in supporting this program. If you are interested in taking up this challenge you will need to demonstrate:
• Experience of working with community groups and/or charitable organisations to deliver projects or services
• Good networking and communication skills with the ability to maintain and build relationships over time
• An understanding of public service provision, preferably in relation to parks and green spaces or the public realm
• Excellent organisational skills, able to work under pressure to meet critical project deadlines
• A knowledge and experience of the use of service relevant information technology
• A successful record of project work including securing external funding, developing project programmes, project delivery and reporting
• The ability to research, analyse and interpret information from a range of sources; preparing reports for a variety of recipients
• A proactive approach in terms of promoting community and third sector involvement
• The ability to be an advocate for parks and green spaces and the positive role they play.

Equal Opportunities

We shall ensure fairness and equal opportunities throughout our workforce and in service delivery. We welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality, religion or age.
