The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham has always been regarded as a high performing local authority, consistently achieving the highest possible ratings in the annual Comprehensive Area Assessments. For the past four years, we have also attracted considerable attention for being able to maintain this impressive record whilst cutting Council Tax by three percent in each of our annual budgets and simultaneously embarking upon a string of ambitious service development projects. Ours is a strong success story, and we have ambitions to get even better. Finance is at the heart of our achievement, and the following outstanding opportunity has arisen in our finance team.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, this is a pivotal position in the finance team.

You will be responsible for:

• monitoring and reviewing the financial and performance management policies and procedures for the Environment Services Department
• leading the Finance Team in the delivery of high-quality finance support to all budget managers within the Department
• providing advice to Members, Officers and other stakeholders on all financial matters

You will be a CCAB qualified accountant with a proven record of managerial capability and the delivery of high performance standards, preferably with a strong awareness of local government financial legislation and practice. First rate technical accounting skills will be essential, as will the ability to relate well to colleagues at a variety of levels.
