Sue Ryder Care is one of the largest providers of specialist palliative and end of life care in the UK. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Manorlands Hospice, Sue Ryder Care in Oxenhope.

The Hospice Apprentice Project is a national demonstration project led by Sue Ryder Care’s Manorland Hospice. With three year funding the project aims to develop and demonstrate a community development based model of palliative and end of life care for people from the South Asian community in Keighley which can be replicated across the Country.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the Community Hospice Apprentice project –as described in the project business plan. To manage, support and guide the apprentices and volunteers including personal development plans and mentoring. To assist the education coordinator with the implementation of suitable education programmes for the apprentices and volunteers. Work with local communities to support & promote the work of the apprentices. Develop effective links and support project partners hosting apprentices throughout the Keighley PACT area, including risk assessment and health and safety procedures for work placements. Make contact through relevant community networks and media in order to maximise publicity and promotion opportunities to assist recruitment, and project development/delivery. Provide relevant routine monitoring information. Develop links with other community development health projects in Bradford and surrounding areas.

We are looking for a qualified healthcare professional with a teaching background who is able to develop effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse range of lay and professional people of various ethnic and religious backgrounds. Experience of project management would be an advantage.

You should have access to a car as the role requires some traveling.
