Our public sector client based in Brighton is seeking an Interim Human Resources Manager to join their team on a 9 month Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave. Reporting to the Head of Policy and Projects, the purpose of the role is to manage the team supporting the negotiations on equal pay and future pay and to take a lead role in the analysis and costing of pay and other terms and conditions of employment.

Managing the implementation of a modern pay system and resolving any potential equal pay liabilities, you will take the lead on the analysis and costing of data relating to changes to pay and conditions, making effective use of IT systems. Assessing risk areas, liaising with the Finance and Audit departments and presenting information on pay and conditions is key to the role.

You will assist with the job evaluation process to ensure panel outcomes are both consistent and transparent. Analysis of current job information is required to identify generic jobs and to provide advice and guidance to managers on matching staff to jobs.

The ideal candidate will have up to date knowledge of employment legislation and best practice together with a working knowledge of public sector and local government pay and conditions. CIPD membership and/or management experience within a large organisation is essential as well the ability to manage large scale projects. You will also have experience of implementing pay and conditions, undertaking job evaluation exercises and working within a unionized environment. Good IT skills, the ability to manage and develop staff and excellent time management skills are required. You will be an excellent communicator with strong presenting and influencing skills, with the ability to use your initiative and work with discretion.
