Improvement And Efficiency South East (Ref: BSD0678DA)
Salary package: up to £53,000
Location: Covering the South East region and Home Based office
Initially for 1 year, with a possible extension for a further year – Secondment opportunity applicants welcome.
Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE) is dedicated to supporting all 74 local authorities and their partners in the South East to achieve efficiency and improvement objectives as set out in the South East Regional Improvement and Efficiency Strategy. One of the key themes is community engagement spanning IESE’s work to support Local Strategic Partnerships, the delivery of local area agreements and community engagement and empowerment across the region.
We are looking for an effective programme manager, ideally with local government or public sector experience, particularly in relation to partnership working, to drive forward and coordinate this work at a regional level. You will support the Theme Lead Chief Executive and Theme Lead Member to deliver the theme business plan and continually reassess the scope of the programme to ensure it reflects changes to government policy, new data on authority and partnership performance and feedback from all relevant stakeholders.
It will be beneficial to have knowledge of the policy agenda for the theme(s) along with a demonstrable ability to manage complex programmes and highly developed political awareness
You will have excellent communication, consultation and negotiation skills, with the inspire and lead change and the ability to develop partnerships across a variety of sectors,
The role will be suited to a motivated individual who wants to make a difference in local authorities and partner services. The post is predominantly home based but the post-holder will be required to travel extensively across the South East region.

Medway Council, located at the heart of the Thames Gateway in Kent, will be the employing authority for this post on behalf of IESE. The successful applicant will develop a close working relationship with Medway’s chief executive who is the theme lead officer and will be managed on a day to day basis by an IESE Assistant Director
