Parking Appeals Officer

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is a progressive and forward thinking Council and aims to recruit staff whose profile and motivation matches our ambitions.

Parking enforcement is vital to ensure the free movement of traffic, aspects of road safety on our streets and to enable the effective use of parking facilities within the borough.

We currently require staff to work in our established parking appeals office. The work primarily involves the processing of challenges and representations against penalty charge notices as well as dealing with customer enquiries.

Experience of dealing with the public, both in writing and by telephone regarding issues that can be sensitive/contentious is essential. Additionally, a sound and practical working knowledge of the relevant Legislative procedures governing parking appeals work is required. You must also be able to work under pressure and on your own initiative, prioritising workloads accordingly in order to deliver the highest standard of customer first service. Possession of good computer skills are also necessary as the successful candidate will be expected to require the minimum of refresher training in respect of systems use.

The starting salary will be within the Sc5 range (spinal points 22-25) based on assessed levels of ability, knowledge and experience.
Progression from Sc5 to Sc6 would then be by way of a separate qualification criteria once confirmed in Post.
