These three posts are key members of the Strategy and Performance service in Tower Hamlets, which brings together policy, strategy and performance functions within the Chief Executive’s Directorate. The service is a dynamic effective corporate team that provides support to councillors and senior managers on the key initiatives across the Council and Tower Hamlets Partnership. For example, the team played significant roles in managing the Council’s recent 4 star Corporate Assessment and developing the Partnership’s new Community Plan 2020 and Local Area Agreement (LAA).

The Performance Officers support performance management and improvement across the Council and Tower Hamlets Partnership, providing high quality performance information to partners, managers and members, managing improvement reviews and supporting directorates to monitor, review and improve their services. Within the Partnership, it includes monitoring the Partnership’s new LAA and developing approaches to shared services.

You will have experience of council and partnership performance management, excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to manage and deliver projects. You will also need effective inter-personal skills and the ability to work in partnership and across organisational boundaries. Most importantly, you will have the drive and determination to contribute to improvement across the Council and Partnership.

One post has fixed term funding for two years.

The Policy Officer reports to the Policy Manager and supports corporate and strategic planning, particularly around the Community Plan 2020 and LAA. The postholder will advise senior managers and members on policy issues, researching, developing and supporting a wide range of cross-cutting and corporate policy initiatives.

You will also have a successful track-record of developing council or partnership policy and strategy and excellent communication and report-writing skills. You will also have a strong analytical approach, effective inter-personal skills and the ability to work in partnership and across organisational boundaries.

This post is for a 2 year Fixed Term because the postholder has been seconded to the IDeA.
