This position is for a fixed term period of 6 months (May-October 2012) to cover maternity leave, however is a possibility of an extension for a further six months.

This vacancy may be filled by a secondment for an existing member of staff or as a fixed term contract.

Role Description:
To provide cover for a member of the Performance and Knowledge Management team within the Children, Schools and Families directorate.
This team co-ordinates the directorate’s performance and knowledge management activity, ensures the directorate and council meets statutory inspection and audit requirements, and offers strategic insight and support to services on performance pressures and risks. The team supports the directorate with a range of performance information to help make a positive impact on outcomes for children.

This post plays a key role in the analysis of education data from Surrey maintained schools using information obtained from schools and national data resources. A high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines are essential. Familiarity with the analysis of pupil level attainment data will be advantageous and the ideal candidate will be proactive, creative, keen to learn and an excellent communicator. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office are essential and knowledge of Access, or a willingness to learn, is desirable. The post holder also needs to be capable of working with minimal supervision and using their own initiative.

It is intended that there will be a handover period of up to four weeks before the substantive post holder takes maternity leave. However, the successful candidate needs to be a quick learner as the team will be entering its critical and busiest period at this time of year.

An enhanced CRB disclosure and a Children’s and Adults barred list check will be required for this role.
