About the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be the lead officer on all flood and water management related activities, within one of London’s largest Boroughs. Your role will be to ensure that the Council meets the requirements set out in the Flood and Water Management Act 2010. In doing so, you will be responsible for the development of various Flood Management documents which will include the production of Flood Hazard Maps and the Local Flood Management Plan. Your technical knowledge and experience will be used to investigate flood incidents, register and inspect flood assets as well as produce sustainable drainage guidance and advice for the planning processes. We will also look to you to lead on the implementation of the Council’s sustainable drainage approval body role.

In addition, you will be expected to provide the partnership links to the Environment Agency and Regional Flood and Coastal Erosion committee, and unlock funding for improvement works to manage flooding within the Borough.

About the person

The successful candidate will have significant experience at an appropriate level of dealing with flood management matters. This experience will include technical based knowledge of land drainage and strategies, and the management of funding bids and partnerships.
