The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, based in Reading is an ambitious organisation with a successful track record in delivering high quality care.

Having achieved Foundation status, the Trust is keen to develop an integrated Procurement and Distribution function, which will provide a strategic and commercially orientated service to the whole of the Trust.

The Trust is keen to ensure that all purchasing, of any kind, is properly controlled, managed, and best value obtained for the Trust as a whole. In addition to capital purchases, the Trust currently has Non-Pay expenditure of approximately £75m.

As part of a supporting team, the role of Procurement Manager fulfils two key functions:

Firstly, you will be responsible for the procurement of a range of goods and services and ensure that all purchases, contracts, commercial ventures, etc undertaken on behalf of the Trust are professionally managed, delivered to a high standard, and provide real value for money. You will also work with the Supply and Distribution team in ensuring that there is proper co-ordination in dealings with the supplier related issues.

Secondly, you will work in a pro-active and strategic manner as a Business Partner alongside the nominated budget managers in the Trust. In this capacity you will plan the purchasing and contracts management activity, and provide professional advice, analysis and support to stakeholders across the organisation.

Skills:

To be considered for this role, you will be CIPS part qualified / qualified with substantial experience of negotiating and managing commercial contracts.

The role will involve project planning, supplier management and preparation of business cases and management information reports, which means that you will need to demonstrate strong organisational skills and a natural ability to communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
