Here at Shelter we help more than 170,000 people a year fight for their rights, get back on their feet and find and keep a home. We also tackle the root causes of bad housing by campaigning for new laws, policies and solutions.
Our Publishing and Creative team is responsible for a vast array of production projects. Their extensive output (over 1,000 items a year) ranges from fundraising and campaigning promotion materials, through to legal and good practice reports. As Production Controller, you’ll play a key role in that output.
An interesting and wide-ranging role, it’s all about overseeing the timely and cost-effective production and delivery of high quality, user-centred products for print, merchandise, web and AV output. Scheduling and trafficking work through the team using project management workflow systems, you will ensure each job is channelled effectively from client proposal right through to delivery. Liaising extensively with internal and external clients and design, editorial and web teams along the way, you’ll also keep abreast of new technology and be looking for opportunities to improve our quality and competitiveness.
With a relevant background, you have strong admin skills and a good knowledge of all print processes, including digital media, purchasing procedures, budget control and organising complex delivery logistics. What’s more, you’re commercially aware and customer-focussed, with good negotiation and troubleshooting skills. A persuasive communicator who enjoys developing networks and building alliances, you are very much deadline-driven and quality conscious, whilst at the same time able to remain sensitive to the needs of others.
