Reducing re-offending in the Thames Valley
The National Probation Service runs a diverse range of group work programmes devised to tackle some of the reasons why people offend such as: substance misuse, aggression, impulsiveness and lack of problem-solving skills. You will contribute to the group work programme, managing sessions, delivering programmes and keeping records of attendance.
Excellent communication skills are vital and you will have the ability to relate positively and empathetically to offenders whilst always maintaining your authority. You will have a good awareness of group dynamics and an ability to make sure every group member participates fully. You must be prepared to deliver in a variety of sites across Thames Valley and work flexible hours, including regular evenings and some weekends, which qualify for unsocial hours payments.
