In Havering, in line with the Putting People First and A Vision for Adult Social Care agendas, we are embracing the opportunity and need to transform the Health and Social Care infrastructure to meet these challenges. Adult Social Care is undergoing significant transformation, with a focus on personalisation, prevention, choice and control, and greater partnership working. We have already achieved significant improvements in a number of key service areas and are presently recruiting to fill two key posts:

Service Manager – Safeguarding, Quality Monitoring, Client Affairs and Workforce Development Teams.

This interesting Service Management post holds responsibility for the above four important key areas of Adult Social Care Services. The successful candidate will hold a social work qualification and report directly to the Head of Adults Social Care, and will be a member of the Adult Social Care Senior Management Team.

Although each area, with its own Team Manager, has its own distinct areas of responsibility there are strong synergies that link these services to each other in their activities which combine to support and underpin the work of the Council’s front line Adult Social Care Service Teams.

The post holder will require broad and extensive experience of the work of local authority social services and an ability to work as a member of a senior service management team, manage staff, service delivery, performance objectives, budgets and other resources; as well as ensuring close and co-operative working with the public, other agencies and partner organisations.

We will particularly welcome applications from managers who have already worked at this level or from those who have gained good experience at Team Manager level and who feel they now have the relevant skills and experience to take on a more senior service management role.

For further information, please review the job description and person profile or contact David Cooper on 01708 433674.

We do not unfairly restrict our range of applicants and any disabled applicants meeting the essential criteria set out in the person profile for a job will be guaranteed an interview.

This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake a satisfactory disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the Council.

Closing date for receipt of applications is on 22 February 2012.
