Daventry District is a modern Council at the hub of the national road network in a pleasant rural environment in Northamptonshire

This is an interesting opportunity for a Scrutiny and Standards Officer to join a modern Council and ensure that we operate at the highest standard and with total transparency.

The role

Assisting with the Scrutiny function, and working with Monitoring Officer on the full range of statutory duties, you will take responsibility for supporting the Scrutiny & Improvement and Standards functions of the Council. This includes leading specialised projects and developing new policies and actions plans.

Your expertise in Scrutiny and Standards will be essential to advising elected members and providing interpretation and guidance on the Scrutiny function and the Member Code of Conduct. Further to your remit within Daventry District Council, you will act as Investigating Officer on any Standards Board or England complaints committee.

Key requirements

Educated to HNC/HND Level in Business Administration, you will have acquired sound knowledge of all relevant legislation, including financial and regulatory requirements.

Your analysis of complex information skills will be highly developed and you will need the confidence and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels.
