Our teeth are important. That’s why the GDC works tirelessly to ensure the highest standards, in terms of practice, in terms of service and in terms of education. This is your chance to make a vital contribution to the work of one of our key teams.

Our Hearings Team helps us prepare for hearings – our most high profile and public regulatory activity – and, as such, is crucial to our work. Right now, we’re looking for a committed and highly experienced professional to help lead and support it.

Your role will focus on helping to manage the Hearings Team and organise hearings – from preparation through to the end of cases. This will involve drawing on your in-depth knowledge of hearings and legal processes to answer queries and make decisions on behalf of the Head of Hearings in their absence. You’ll also contribute to developing and implementing new and revised Fitness to Practise (FtP) procedures and training FtP panel members and hearings staff. Acting as Committee Secretary will fall within your remit too, as will providing support, advice and guidance to the Chair, Panel members, Legal Assessor, parties and witnesses on GDC procedures and timings.

As well as a background in policy development and implementation skills, we’ll be looking for an impressive knowledge of legal processes and the regulatory sector, ideally in a health-related body. Experience of acting as a Committee Secretary or similar role is also essential, along with solid people management skills and the confidence to make decisions on behalf of the Head of Hearings.

Calm under pressure, you’ll also bring integrity, patience, resilience and professionalism to the role.

In return for your hard work, you can look forward to a package of flexible benefits and all the support you need to progress within our forward-looking organisation.

The GDC champions equality and celebrates diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
