Senior Registration Officer
Contract: Permanent, full time
Location: Camden Town Hall, Judd Street
Salary: £30,345 to £31,935
The London Borough of Camden currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Registration Officer to join their team.
The purpose of this role is to perform the statutory duties and responsibilities of a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, as stipulated by the Home Office. In particular, the registration of all births and deaths in the borough and the conducting of civil marriages, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies. You will also perform Nationality/Settlement Checking, Deed Polls and back office administration duties on an ad hoc basis.
Just as importantly, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment to delivering excellent customer service and driving improvement in Camden Register Office. There will be opportunities to take responsibility for projects to achieve these objectives and expand the service. We have recently embarked on projects to move all bookings and payments online and to refurbish the register office but there are still many exciting projects ahead for you to be involved in!
Role Requirements
- You will have a solid background in registering births, deaths and marriages, with knowledge of registration legislation handbooks.
- Must be adaptable in a continually changing register office.
- Be able to work well with the team and in a methodical way without direct supervision.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, particularly when dealing with customers at emotional times in their lives.
- Committed to continually driving improvement in the service.
- Ability to explain information in a clear and concise manner whilst bearing in mind legal requirements.
- Experience of dealing with members of the public, including face to face, by phone, email and in writing.
- Experience of daily accounting for registration fees and cash handling
- Registration with OISC and Experience of Nationality Checking are desirable
