The role of Senior Scrutiny Officer at Ashford Borough Council demands all these qualities and more. Working on a daily basis with the Member Services and Scrutiny Manager, the Head of Legal and Democratic Services and from time to time with elected councillors, directors, service managers, parish councils, community forums, the general public, government bodies, national politicians and local organisations, you will investigate and research important issues and topics that affect people living in the Borough. The post also includes the co-ordination and preparation of Council responses to complaints made to the Local Government Ombudsman.
Experience of local government or the public sector, a political environment, public relations and external communications are all relevant and desirable. Education to degree level (or evidence of equivalent intellectual capability developed through experience) is required.
