Harrow Council is on a journey to become one of the best London Councils by 2012, and we have an exciting new opening for a talented individual who will play a key role in helping us meet this objective.
The Council recognises the importance of providing employees with accurate and timely pension information, thereby enabling the individual to make informed decisions about pension provision for themselves and their departments. Harrow Council, in full consultation with its key stakeholders, has created a pension service that assesses performance against national and local benchmarks.
We are now looking for a pension professional who has a proven track record of administering all aspects of the Local Government Pension Scheme. We are a dynamic and proactive team and are looking for a Shared Services Manager that will bring a fresh perspective to this service area. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have working knowledge of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and must be able to demonstrate:
- In-depth, current, knowledge of all aspects of the LGPS and associated legislation.
- A proven track record of managing a performance-driven pensions administration unit.
- The ability to develop and motivate a team of pension professionals.
- Capacity to oversee daily service delivery whilst identifying potential for innovative service improvements.
- A broad understanding of the changes and impact that both British and European. legislation will have on the administration of final-salary pension schemes
- Active involvement in TUPE transfers.
- A thorough working knowledge of the business critical AXISe application.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
You will report directly to the Service Manager for Pensions and Accounts Payable/Receivable, overseeing the daily administration of the LGPS, Teachers’ Pensions and Pensioners Payroll, whilst working closely with other senior managers in the Council’s Shared Service unit. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who would like to further develop their managerial skills / knowledge, whilst playing a key role in shaping future pension provision.
