Website & Communications Officer

Employer:Uttlesford District Council

Salary:£21,412 to £23,749 per annum depending upon relevant experience (pay award pending) 

Hours:37 hours per week. 

Working pattern:Full Time, Flexible Hours, Permanent position 

Location:Saffron Walden

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can continue to develop our brand new website while providing broader communications support.

You will be the council’s webmaster, developing the design and content of the council’s website, ensuring timely updates, as well as ensuring compliance with accessibility and usability standards. In addition, you will be responsible for our intranet.

The role will also see you researching and writing press releases, dealing with media enquiries and writing a variety of council publications including our staff newsletter and residents’ magazine.

You will need a good knowledge of websites and an understanding of how they work – particularly with regard to content management systems. If you have a sound knowledge of html, server technology, and how to repair or edit errors directly on the server, then you will be at an advantage.

Experience of the media, an understanding of council communications and the ability to write clearly and concisely are also required.

Closing date for completed applications is Sunday 31 August 2008.
