Customer Services
We need a motivated Local Taxation Manager to lead our Local Taxation Team within Customer Services, and join the wider management team in the Service.
The main purpose of the post is to manage the Local Taxation Section, to ensure that the databases are kept up to date, with bills being issued accurately and on time, collection effectively controlled and people are treated fairly and honestly. This area of the Council’s work has improved considerably in recent years and is currently performing very well. The Service is keen to build on this improvement and is facing several major challenges over the next 18 months. The ability to cope with change, encourage innovation and work under pressure is essential.
The current post holder will retire in March 2009, and it is hoped to recruit a successor prior to this to provide a handover period.
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates and be an excellent communicator capable of leading a busy team dealing with a number of diverse functions. You will also be keen to participate in wider activities outside of your discipline: working with the other managers in the Service on corporate initiatives.
Applicants should possess the following:
- Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with members of the public, the team, other members of staff and outside organisations
- Previous experience in a similar environment
- Experience of using revenues based computer applications
