Transforming lives and life chances in a thriving borough
Newham is a growing and thriving borough rich in culture, flavour and atmosphere. We have the most diverse population in the UK and, as host borough of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are undergoing a remarkable transformation. It’s a great place to make your mark and deliver real benefits for adults in Newham.
We have a well established, innovative and highly motivated service and have created a new leadership post to build on our success and deliver our vision for integrated personalised services.
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated individual with a genuine commitment to lead the work of services for adults with physical and/or sensory disabilities. You will be the head of three teams delivering social work assessment and care management services as well as a Day Care Centre. You will directly manage 4 team managers and be responsible for a staff group in excess of 72 staff and a budget of over £6m.
You must demonstrate an ability to manage services at a senior level to bring about change. You must have a clear focus on how to deliver targets, demonstrate outcomes, monitor and evaluate progress and performance and how to respond to under-performance.
You will have a sound understanding of issues relating to disabled adults and their carers as well as experience of working at a strategic level in this field or a relevant area. You will also have a professional social work qualification.
You will have experience of managing and leading teams as well as experience of project management, setting and monitoring budgets and developing performance management frameworks in line with national and local requirements.
You will actively support the Group Manager, Therapies and Rehabilitation Services to deliver services that are highly relevant, seamless and cost effective.
Please contact Simon Galczynski, Group Manager, Therapies and Rehabilitation Services on 020 8586 6350 for an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity.
Closing date: Friday 30th January 2009
Interview date: Wednesday 18th February 2009
