Salary:£40,002 - £44,757

Hours:36 hours per week

Working pattern:Full Time, Permanent position

Location:Reigate

Help create a brand new health and safety team.

We’re looking to establish a new health and safety team at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. You can play a key part in shaping that team, and in establishing a new era for health and safety within the organisation.

As well as providing expert advice, both to senior managers and in stations across the county, you’ll be instrumental in designing and delivering a challenging new health and safety performance plan. The aim will be to create a step change in the way health and safety is perceived and delivered across the organisation. At the same time, of course, you’ll be managing and developing the two people in your team.

Excellent communication skills are a must, as you’ll be working with a wide range of people at all levels and will also be expected to chair meetings. Ideally, you will have already spent time in a management role. You will certainly need strong performance management skills and the ability to train small groups of staff.

In turn, we’ll provide you with ongoing training and development opportunities in your field of expertise.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Liz Mills on 01737 224063.

Interview date: 18 February 2009.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Surrey County Council particularly welcomes applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
