Assistant Team Manager

Salary:£35,634 - £40,281 (plus £1,500 per annum retention supplement)

Hours:36 hours per week

Working pattern:Full Time, Permanent position

Location:Guildford (St Francis Centre)

Interested in developing yourself and supporting others in their development? This busy and varied role as an assistant team manager could be your first step into management in our Families Directorate, which provides an holistic, co-ordinated service responsive to the needs of children and their families.

The Complex Needs teams work with children who have a registered disability so you will either have current experience within an assistant team manager role or be looking to begin your career in a managerial role and gain experience of supervising social workers involved in all aspects of the social work task.

You will assist the team manager, overseeing the running of the team and we will count on you to provide professional guidance, advice and support to less experienced staff, helping them develop and ensuring that best professional practice and standards are maintained within the team and across the Service.

The team is also a multi-disciplinary team and has the benefits of a team around the child co-ordinator, a Domiciliary Care team and occupational therapists.

The service is committed to ongoing improvement through professional development and performance management across all key areas of service delivery with a keen focus on process improvement to ensure effective use of resources and enhance team responsiveness. Working with the team manager, you will be promoting equality and diversity, performance management and the continued development of integrated working.

A GSCC registered, professionally qualified social worker with experience of child protection and risk management and ideally with some supervisory experience, you’ll be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of undertaking assessments and care planning, together with the necessary IT and time management skills to enable you to work effectively and efficiently in this busy role.

An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure and POCA check will be required for this role.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Paul Ferman on 01483 517 518.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Surrey County Council particularly welcomes applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
