Richmond Borough Council is a South West London Borough serving a population of 174,500. The borough is very diverse and a great place to work. Home to Twickenham Rugby Stadium and Kew Gardens, the borough is covered by more than a third of open green space.

This is an exciting time to join Adult and Community Services. A new Directorate structure was implemented in 2008 and brings together adult social care, housing services, as well as council-wide responsibilities for commissioning, policy and performance management. Richmond Borough Council is the most advanced in delivering self-directed support (Personal Budgets).

Managing a net budget of £72m and supporting 5,000 service users, the successful candidate will lead a team of 8 to deliver excellent, customer focussed financial services.
You will ensure the directorate meets council requirements for budget setting, monitoring and reporting. You will also support the Head of Finance developing the Directorate’s financial strategy and deliver efficiency savings

The role involves extensive partnership working with local health and voluntary services staff to ensure effective management of joint financial arrangements.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop financial services to support the transformation of adult social care services.

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified, have experience of leading budget setting/closure of accounts within a complex, demand led local authority environment. He/She will ideally be from an adults or children’s services background, and will have the gravitas to operate at the most senior level with Directors of Service and external stakeholders.
